I wonder if the ground is soft? I would have expected his body to be much more damaged under a heavy tree.

By the size of that tree I'm sure he's all kinds of fucked up inside. Plus I'm sure there's some nasty bruising under the shirt.
It is pretty heavy, something appears to have popped out near his thigh.

Well, he kinda looks peaceful so I'm guessing he died without many regrets. RIP guy that decided to help on the wrong day.
