Woman Killed by Her Partner
Australia. This female individual was involved in a fatal domestic dispute with her de facto partner. She was attacked with two knives and died from incised injuries to the neck and left arm. A total of 12 injuries (including superficial abrasions, periorbital hematoma, bruising, and superficial and deep-incised defects) were observed on the head and neck. Only one of the injuries involved trauma to the skeleton and cartilage. This was a ragged incised injury on the anterior aspect of the neck. In the midline, the wound gaped and at its superior edge was a roughly horizontal component. The thyroid cartilage was incised with the lumen of the trachea visible. There was extensive hemorrhage and transection of the strap muscles on the left side of the neck. There was a fracture of the left greater horn of the hyoid bone with associated hemorrhage along with fractures of the left and right superior horns of the thyroid cartilage. There was an incised defect in the anterior aspect of the body of the 5th cervical vertebra. Fig.6 One of the knives located at the scene. The neck injury involved extensive soft tissue damage including incised injury to the upper airway structures. The bony damage was confined to an incised injury to the anterior surface of the 5th cervical vertebra. Two blood-stained, non-serrated knives were recovered from the scene. Postmortem CT demonstrated the degree of soft tissue disruption in the neck especially to the trachea and deep to this there was a defect in the anterior body of the 5th cervical vertebra with minor bone fragmentation. - This post is for educational purposes only and is nonprofit. ~ The killer mate held one knife in each of his hands to make sure she couldn't get away from injury, & he could keep jabbing away at her. It was intense rage on his part. |

Size doesn’t matter. It’s about how sharp the knife is. The knives aren’t very sharp because the wounds are ‘ragged’.
