This is a psychologically understood thing. In many cases of 'Battered Woman Syndrome' instead of going to authorities or friends/family for help the distressed wife will often kill the abusive other. It isn't out of any revenge or anger, but simply fear of death. Abused women are very often inflicted with 'learned helplessness' in which they've been conditioned through months or year to feel helpless, and find that the only logical answer to their plight is to kill the husband. She'd have gotten off no doubt. |
