Re: Two Sisters, 10 and 15 Yo, Drowned in a Pond

what I don't get is HOW 2 girls of that age could possibly drown in under 1 foot of water.

I'm not sure about you folks but that really doesn't add up to me, I could chime in and suggest that maybe they were drunk or high and passed out and then inhaled the water which caused the drowning, But then why are they on their backs
( assuming they were found this way )

Maybe murdered and then placed next to each other by the killer?
Im thinking maybe they were brought to the edge of the pond.... maybe it was deeper in a an area, panicked and sunk down in the mud... only thing I can think

Don't get how, but it's so sad. Can't imagine how the parents feel having lost both.

The question has been raised before, an my suggestion still is that they are pulled in on shallow water. The images are not as they are found - you can read in the very first post that "they were found embracing each other", which they certainly don't do now.
Ah good point, This just proves that proof reading doesn't always work as intended .

Cheers for the reply though :)

Re: Two Sisters, 10 and 15 Yo, Drowned in a Pond

I just don't get how you can drown in a pond what am I missing here?
"Pond" does not necessarily mean "shallow". There are several ponds I can take you to on people's property that get as deep as 25ft at the deepest part, 10ft+ not far out from the bank. It would not be hard at all to drown in one if you weren't that proficient at swimming.

Also, underwater weeds often get tangled around people's legs in ponds and lakes causing them to drown since they can't stay on the surface. This also could have been the case.

The only other thing I can think is that since most natural ponds have some kind of current due to natural breaks and drainage in the pond that they floated to a shallower area near an outlet.

Re: Two Sisters, 10 and 15 Yo, Drowned in a Pond

Some of us only have english as a foreign language. Of course I try to use the best word I know - or I use the one Google suggests (as is the case here as far as I remember). But I think it would be wise not to distinguish between subtle meanings of the words

I think I know at least ten words in danish for "a hole (big or small) with water in it" - every one of them with a small difference in the meaning. But in english I maybe know two or three, which have to cover every imaginable waterhole (except pubs ).

So the use of the words might not be as precise as you expect But it's a funny discussion - and good to learn from
