The smell thing is an odd one. Perhaps they did smell it but could not locate the source? Maybe thought it was the drains, sewers, etc. It is certainly a puzzling question  It happened up in the Almondvale Centre in Livingston, Scotland, 1978. A guy tried to enter a store called Woolco (doesn't exist anymore now) via the square ventilation system. He got trapped upside down and wasn't found until a few days later. The shaft ran between the ladies & gents toilets and the smell was coming through the grille in the wall. Upon finding him & removal a week later, he was found pretty decomposed! As he was pulled downwards, his body fell apart *BARF* So guess the case above was found quicker due to location? |
