Re: Tomb Sweeping Day
I believe all the pictures are not related to "Tomb Sweeping Day" or "Qingming festival" but these pictures show the Thai traditions called Lang Pha Cha. We do this once a year to clear all the buried unidentified bodies at the grave site and cremate them. We believe that this the way to pay respect to those unfortunate souls who didn't have an any relatives or no money for the proper funeral.

Re: Tomb Sweeping Day
I saw this in Bali .It is expensive for an individual burial so in towns they wait till a lot of people die and they are exhumed together. Each body by his/her family members. Then they wash the bones and each one has an individual woven spirit basket they are put in.Then they make very large floats which are later burned after all the bones are put in it.The cost runs in the floats which are beautiful with lots of flowers. This way everyone gets a float or a shared float. It was pretty neat. They dont mind if tourists take pictures or touch the bones. No one is crying as they are liberating the soul to where ever they go to.They are an animated form of hindus. Everyone is smiling and no one is sticking out their tongue.
