The Tiede Family Cabin Murders
The crime took place in a remote family cabin in Oakley, Utah, three days before Christmas in 1990. The Tiede family had just returned to their cabin after Christmas shopping, unaware that two men were lying in wait. 20-year-old Linae Tiede, her 16-year-old sister, Tricia, their mother Kaye and grandmother, Beth Potts, were ambushed upon entering the cabin. The two assailants shot and killed Beth Potts and Kaye Tiede in front of the girls and then shot their father, Rolf, once he returned home. They doused him with gasoline, set a fire, and took off with two hostages: Linae and Trisha Tiede. The assailants, ex-cons Von Taylor and Edward Deli, were unaware that Rolf Tiede survived, just barely. He fled on a snowmobile, shot, covered in blood, and burnt from the fire, down a mountain to a cabin where his brother was staying. Rolf was airlifted from the scene and survived, and police recovered both girls from the family vehicle, driven by the assailants. Police recovered VHS tape from the scene, which showed the killers filming themselves opening the Tiedes' Christmas gifts as they awaited their arrival: ^ Von Taylor was seriously hideous. Deli's death row sentence was overturned and he is sentenced to life.

When I see humans like this it makes me wonder about what kind of lives they had growing up. They certainly didn’t come from a well balanced childhood.  I see it as the parent’s fault just as much as these sick fucks who perpetrated the crime.  |
