My grandpa brought back a sword from Japan during his stay at Iwo Jima. The gruesome thing was that the jap's hand was still clenched to the hilt. I remember everytime he would bring it out to show the family, the thing would stink up the place. I'm not sure if he ever got the hand off or not. I was real young so I never got the chance to see it. |

Yes, they are showa imperial soldiers. The pictures were likely taken during the infamous Nankin massacre, where between 100,000 and 300,000 Chinese were killed. Japanese soldiers were ordered to "teach a lesson" to the inhabitants of the fallen city, to systematically rape women and execute as many men as it was physically possible to burry. Chinese POWs were used for Japanese soldiers to practice their baillonette abilities.
