On 10th December, a three-year-old girl, Shelsy M.N.O, was kidnapped from her house. At night, her body was found in a coffee sack, at a residence a few metres away.


Living in a house was a teenager, thought to be of Venezuelan nationality, and who had reportedly lived in the area only for around twenty days. Amidst widespread outrage, locals attacked, beat, and subdued the teenager, who insisted that a supposed "friend" was the real perpetrator.

When police units tried to intervene to remove him and protect him, the crowd blocked their efforts, saying they would not hand him over to the authorities. Finally, a group of men on motorcycles forcibly removed him from the scene.


The young man was taken to a higher area of ​​the town and locked in a makeshift wooden dwelling. There, they tied him up and filmed him while pressuring him to confess. When they failed to obtain a confession, the attackers beheaded and castrated him, before abandoning the remains in a mountainous area.

Besides his body was a sign which said, "Here, you pay with your life."



It is thought that a local leader of the "Self-Defence Forces of the Sierra Nevada" made an order, via telephone, for the teenager to be quickly transferred to an area controlled by that group.

If the little girl's killer turns out to have been someone else then every single one of those who used violence or the threat thereof to prevent the arrest should be tried as accomplices to the murder (and given the same punishment as those that did the deed.) Even if there is some evidence this kid was the one who killed the little girl those who stopped the arrest should still each get significant jail time. To some rule of law is merely optional, and as a consequence their societies tend to be awful places to live.
