Suicide with a Hunting Rifle
This individual died after shooting himself under the chin with a hunting rifle. No further info. Head injuries from shotguns and high-powered rifles are typically quite devastating, often with extensive soft tissue destruction, skull fractures, and pulpifaction of the brain. Occasionally, the brain is largely expelled from the cranial vault and may be found near the body. Centerfire rifles, whether military or hunting, frequently cause a strong ‘explosive’ effect with comminution of bones and laceration of brain tissue up to a so-called Kröhnlein shot (exenteratio cranii). Shotgun injuries differ substantially depending on the range of fire. Close-range shots have a tremendous effect similar to centerfire rifles by literally riddling brain tissue and blasting the skull. The high internal cranial pressure often leads to long skin tears, also detached from the bullet opening, as well as extensive bone fracture systems and brain tissue destruction. - This post is for educational purposes only and is nonprofit. Re: Suicide with a Hunting Rifle
I disagree. Poor planning. The recoil could have shifted the barrel just enough to blow off his face and leave him alive. Saw one of those once. He lived about 3 hours. This guy just got lucky. Kids, listen! The barrel goes in your mouth pointed upward toward the back of your head. Anything else risks having your face, teeth, jaw, throat, and tongue removed while leaving your sad ass "alive." And since you were suicidal, they won't even give you a face transplant. So get your last act on the planet right, okay? |

If he was a hunter I’m glad he’s dead. |

Yeah under the chin is not a good method as you might miss the brain and survive. You can also survive with some parts of the brain missing, but probably a fruit for the rest of your life. This graphic shows the effect of an under-the-chin shotgun wound. |

Re: Suicide with a Hunting Rifle
Is that really true? How did you know that, are you in the medical rackets? Very interesting if true. I would have guessed your insurance would be a part of determining if you got a face transplant, but I have no experience here. Funny to think if you got a face from a "donor cycle" rider. You could immediately look like a Hells Angel, maybe even with a swastika tattoo on your forehead like Charles Manson... |
