A South Korean Army Private Committed Suicide Using a Hand Grenade.
On November 5, 1998, in the cold winter, a 21-year-old South Korean Army private committed suicide with a grenade at his guard post. The cause of the suicide is the beatings that were chronic in the South Korean military. He held a grenade in his left hand and blew himself up in his stomach. The grenade fragments tore through his heart, and he died soon after. South Korean military police performed an autopsy on him in December 1998 and again about five months later in May 1999. Examples of beatings and harassment in the South Korean military during the incident. The deceased probably wanted to escape this suffering. |

I saw a docu-drama on Netflix about this. It appears the Korean Military is a gigantic Junior High School with no teachers or coaches & the bullies are given rank & loaded weapons. Think of the battalion of GIs that died in the 50s at Chosin protecting & creating that country & then you see this shit. |
