Re: Shot Himself in the Chest While Cleaning His Gun
I agree with XybertroniX. Furthermore, looking at the pictures: 1.) What would you be cleaning on a shotgun that would require that you place the firearm up against your chest? It looks like contact as you can see the ring from the barrel against his chest. 2.) One cannot clean the firearm without having the action open on this firearm. And the trigger assembly will drop out the bottom of the firearm if you wanted to clean the trigger assembly. |

Re: Shot Himself in the Chest While Cleaning His Gun
that is what i was taught when i bought my gun. first step in preparatory to cleaning is unloading ammunition. muzzle away from you or anybody in the vicinity. thats not the prescribed way of unloading chambered round in cleaning.

Haha that's one way of putting it. "Warning: unloading shell via barrel into chest cavity is not recommended". |

Re: Shot Himself in the Chest While Cleaning His Gun
I know its not cool to post on really old stuff much but I don't ever do it and I had something constructive to say here, I think this was insurance scam because suicide negates any insurance payout but "accidents" can sometimes double or even triple the pay out, plus that's an unused shell in that pic, and if he was getting the shells out why the fuck was it pointed at him in any way? which there isn't a shell extraction mark on that shell as far as I can tell. This screams insurance scam for his family especially with his friend quoting he "went to clean his gun" so the insurance company doesn't have investigators just put down it was suicide, instead their directly told it was an accident which I find hard to believe but hell, anythings possible but I'd put my money on insurance scam w/suicide |

Re: Shot Himself in the Chest While Cleaning His Gun
you missed something. subject shotgun is not semi auto. the exploded shell is still inside and will only eject if you pull the fore end lever. eject spent shell going down and feed live one going up. im guessing he brought two but used only one. he would be the baddest aim in the whole history if he missed his chest at that range in his first shot.

Re: Shot Himself in the Chest While Cleaning His Gun
Hope I'm posting correctly and not replying to top question, first post& love Documentingreality! Most definitely a suicide. I'd clean my weapon at a table with chair, always in same place if was my own house. We're creatures of habit. "Goin' out ta clean the shotgun, no I don't need my shoes, won't be needing them". Nah
