Pastor Burns Himself on a Bridge

I found an interesting website while looking for something else, as usual. Found this. I think the photo looks very artistic for a man supposedly having set himself on fire. See what you think.

Hell As Pastor Burns Himself On A Bridge In Warri Delta State

July 21, 2012 at 11:00pm

According to eye-witnesses, the pastor drove himself to the spot with a keg of petrol, showered himself with the fuel and then switch on a lighter.

He was battling with a family problem which he had no idea how to take control of or solve and since he had lost all hopes, he felt their was no reason why he should continue to keep his soul locked in his body and so he set it free in the most insane way ever. So so sad.

A cleric, whose name was given as Obaleme, committed suicide in Warri, Delta State, on Wednesday by setting himself on fire. It was gathered that Obaleme, who had recently complained of family problems, stopped his car on Udu Bridge in Warri, grabbed a can of fuel and dashed under the bridge.

Eyewitnesses say he then doused himself with the fuel and set himself ablaze. Before onlookers could sufficiently quench the fire, the pastor died. When contacted, Charles Muka, the state’s police spokesperson, said he was yet to be briefed on the incident.

It's a work made by Ulrich Lamsfuß, Stefan Jellheden - Oil on canvas, 2004.

The 1963 photograph should be this one:

I don't know if the story is real, it's reported on several websites though

In fact, even the above is nowhere near the actual image of the self immolation of Thich Quang Duc, a monk who protested against the persecution of Buddhists in Vietnam. I cannot believe you guys have not seen these images or the subsequent art ????

You guys are great! Thanks, gata! He has some hairy legs! Like the shoes as does Fletch, lol!

I do remember seeing the monk, but, it's usually a closer shot of him.

Re: Pastor Burns Himself on a Bridge

His squat form is somewhat lacking.

His legs were almost parallel to the ground, but his back is rounded whereas it should be straight.

This is the photo taken by Malcolm Browne:
The one posted in the previous post is a digitally colorized version.
Yesterday, this colorized version of journalist/photographer Malcolm Browne’s iconic 1963 photo of Vietnamese Mahayana Buddhist monk Thích Quảng Đứca’s self-immolation appeared on Reddit.com. To see this image in color imbues a new level of terror and awe. In the original black and white image, this lone Buddhist monk appeared otherworldly, a ghost from the past familiar to us only from repetitious use in coffee table books, historical slide shows, and even album covers (see: Rage Against the Machine’s self-titled debut). But now, rendered in color, Thích Quảng Đức’s immolation takes on a whole new gravity. Full essay over at Thought Catalog.

Re: Pastor Burns Himself on a Bridge

He had a family problem he couldn't control so he did that, I'm sure that made it all better
