This cadaver is being dissected by medical students. A pacemaker can be seen on the chest. The modern cardiac pacemakers have a smooth external case, with the manufacturer’s data and serial numbers. Leads emerge from one point on the device and pass onwards to the heart. At autopsy, most cases have the generator unit (box) cut free from the wires to allow easy extraction. If the device may have not worked adequately, the entire unit with wires and electrodes needs to be retrieved intact and sent for specialized analysis.

Medical students practicing dissection and probably some anatomy study.

Ahhhh hahah we have a box of those in the prep room that go off like a bunch of disembodied ambulances every few minutes Apparently a really strong magnet can deactivate them but I have yet to bring them up to the crematorium and and unzap them

When my brother died, they took his skin, along with all his usable organs. We got a letter listing 43 items that they used to transplant into other people. I had no idea there was so much useable stuff in a dead body. He looked normal at the funeral, but was obviously just an empty shell. I bet even his eyes were actually just ping-pong balls, stuck in place like Kermit, with the eyelids glued down. I would have used a couple of 10 penny nails, but then, I'm not a funeral professional, just an enthusiastic neophyte.

I guess the next time I come across a cheerleader, I'll be more cognizant of the useable parts of her body, other than the ones I am interested in.

The cadaver looks worried.
He was probably pretty surprised when the pacemaker started to backfire, or stumble, or whatever it is that pacemakers do when they are about to bite the schnitzel.
Wonder if they have an aural "Uh-Oh!' alarm on them. Maybe they play the funeral procession march from "Romeo and Juliet". Of perhaps they are programmed to play a "fart" gif.
