Natalie Seymour and Abbey Amisola Die in Kampot, Cambodia, 2017
On November 14, 2017, Natalie Jade Seymour, 22, of Stotfold, Beds, in Bedfordshire, and her friend Abbey Gail Amisola, 27, of Winnipeg, Canada, were discovered dead at a guest house and hostel in the city of Kampot in southern Cambodia. Both women had experienced severe vomiting and diarrhoea before obtaining medication from a local pharmacy the previous night. Cambodian investigators determined that an overdose of that medication caused both deaths. Right before she died, Natalie Jade Seymour sent her mom the text messages, "Took some bad pills" and "I don't feel too well." I found numerous links with interesting information. "Both women were suspected to have died of accidental overdoses after taking an over-the-counter medication for diarrhea and vomiting, British newspaper Daily Mail reported using information from the Cambodia Department of Immigration." also "Cambodia party resort of Kampot where Brit backpacker Natalie Jade Seymour died is ‘riddled with dodgy medicines cut with morphine and opiates" "The 22-year-old traveler may have unwittingly taken dodgy over-the-counter medicine for an upset stomach. Two Brits suffered heart attacks and died last year in the same Cambodian resort." Note to self....when travelling there, bring Imodium!  |
