I’m a nurse.
I work with the elderly. One day I walked into my patients room and his face looked completely different. Like a whole new patient. So freaky. I instantly knew he was dying.

In the few dead people I have seen, that I knew when they were alive, I was always struck by the change in their appearance.
This is one of the things that has made me believe in a soul of some kind. When the spirit leaves, people just look like empty husks. Literally.
