Pigeon, Thanks. I actually regret making that statement (in some ways). The logically fallacious site appears to be |

Re: More Photos of the Lynchings of Two People by a Mob of Christians.
Your answers are consistent with Christian theology: "they [the various cited instances] were evil and opposing God and deserved the punishment they received (either by God directly or by means of God's chosen people)" is indeed a teaching found in the Old Testament. You get full credit for accuracy on this score. The problem for most people who oppose your views is that they find such doctrines repulsive. Even granting, for the sake of discussion, that these peoples were committing moral wrongdoings, there is the matter of the severity of their punishment. "Negative consequences" are a reasonable expectation for wrongdoing. Genocidal slaughter is certainly a negative consequence. However, there is a huge difference between slaughtering people and dumping over the tables of the money changers in the temple, as Jesus did. While the debate may involve differences in degree rather than differences in kind, this is one Hell of a difference in degree.

My own beliefs are less repulsive than the traditional; i.e., there is no eternal suffering and no supernatural devil & divine fallen angels. Right, that's not exactly a good analogy on Jesus with the money changers... |

Re: More Photos of the Lynchings of Two People by a Mob of Christians.
Interesting. With no Devil and his minions, this leads to a number of possibilities regarding the entrance of evil into the cosmos, including: (1) Some form of dualism whereby both good and evil are encompassed in God, (2) The rebellion of man as the cause of the origin of evil, or (3) A similar action on the part of an intelligent morally responsible life form elsewhere. I have restricted the alternatives to a basic Western monotheistic context (in which there is a metaphysical distinction between the Creator and creation) since this seems to be where you are coming from. If we look at the issue from other perspectives (e.g. Eastern philosophy and religion) it is very different, including how (or even if) the question of evil is to be posed. |

It is (2). The origin of evil came from man (Romans 5:12). Also, there is no outside agent or force causing one to sin (Mark 7:15).

Oh yes, let's post a separate thread for every new picture that turns up for this incident, and pretend that it was a)motivated by Christianity rather than mob rage for the massacre that just took place and b) that this is proof of some sort of equivalency between any other religion and Islam. Yes, just ignore thousands upon thousands of Islamic inspired acts of horrific violence and slaughter specifically targeted against innocent people happening every day. |
