Re: Mika Yamamoto
Actually, it pays extremely well. She likely made more money than most people on this forum. On the other hand, when you decide to pursue a career as a war correspondent, you gotta figure you're going to take some flak at some point, literally as well as figuratively. I never feel bad for these people. They know damn good and well what the risks are when they sign up. Plus, most of the time, they're just slaves to the giant networks who will control and censor what they try to report anyway. So what's the fucking point? We get more realistic and better news footage from cell phone cams in our Video section here than these corporate shills embedded in the front lines could ever actually provide. What a fruitless existence and a fruitless death. |

Re: Mika Yamamoto
Audioguru, I think you ought to shut the fuck up with your drivel. FACT: Who put us through a multi-billion dollar war in Iraq over a lie? Bush. Do you need me to tell you how many troops died in Iraq? Has Bush seen any combat? No. Who engineered this war? Dick Cheney. Did Cheney see any combat? No. Does it at all bother you that two guys who never saw combat launched the bloodiest and most expensive war since Vietnam? FACT: Can we just swoop down and kill that bitch Assad? It's not that simple otherwise someone would've done it already. Doing so means destabilizating the region. You can have your opinion on Obama but don't go quoting some "dicey past" as it's very vague and hardly stands as argument. |

Re: Mika Yamamoto
Her colleague looks heartbroken-- poor guy. Journo who died was kinda hot. My heart goes out to her colleagues and family. Kinda cool to be able to see these images so soon after the accident. On DR we are privy to shit that people watching regular news aren't (but yes, it is voyeuristic and gorey, too)
