I stared at them for so long. So I went to the website (the name on the picture) and the photo is titled Girls in Mourning, circa 1849. So yeah, you're right.

I've always loved these. There's a site that I used to go to that had hundreds of these pictures. http://antiquephotoalbum.nl/pmgalleries/index.php You have to sign up, but it's free, unlike that Thanatos site. I've always been fascinated by the mother holding the baby with the white dress. It's the sixth picture from the bottom up. The mother's the one who's dead. So sad!
