Sounds fishy, why would she go run off to find her son? Wouldn't her first instinct be to see what she could do to help him and then go call for an ambulance or police?

Couple years ago a man in the next town over killed himself by stabbing his heart twice. He did it while his wife, two young sons and a couple other members of the Jehovah's Witnesses were in his living room. It's an unusual form of suicide, but does happen.

She was probably checking to make sure her son hadn't been stabbed, too. That's a common reaction to tragedy.
