Man Shot by Police After Attacking His Wife & Child
A man was killed after confronting the military police on the morning of 11/18/2014. According to police, the man was about to shoot his wife and daughter. His wife, 20, managed to run off without being hit. As Fernanda ran, the man threatened to kill the child if she did not return. Before that, he had tried to cut them both with a machete. Police went to the scene and the man fled with the child. The officers chased the man for more than 500 meters to a dam, when he dropped the child near the water, and shot at police, who responded with gunfire and ended up hitting him with two shots to the chest. He was taken immediately to the Municipal Hospital in Itagimirim but died due to his injuries. Neighbors who live near the home on the other side of the highway, said they were living moments of terror, for he was very violent and threatened to kill everyone with a gun. Police seized a shotgun and a .22-caliber type "garruncha" barreled pistol. According to the wife of the suspect, the house still has another shotgun and ammunition. The police searched the site but did not find the other gun. At the station, his wife said he had been arrested in Minas Gerais for drug trafficking, and also in Itapebi for illegal possession of weapons. She also said that her husband had tried to kill her with a machete, and after a series of beatings, fired a gun at her and her daughter.

Re: Man Shot by Police After Attacking His Wife & Child
"killed after confronting the military police". Yep. That tends to happen. Although what about the mother? She ran off without her child. Didn't sound like she had intentions of returning given the kill threat either. Sounds a like poor parenting skills from both parties. |
