Re: Man Crucified On The Ground For Some Unknown Reason [21 October 2011]
The process of decomposition of a body has not standard values: it's depending on many external factors: temperature, humidity, maggots, insects, flies, vultures, beasts used to eat meat from dead bodies etcetera; the theory that he was there for a week is consistent with the environment in which the body was found, though it might look to be unlikely at first glance. Even only insects can devastate a whole body within just 48 hours, depending on WHAT insects they are and how many. Now, if you look carefully at the soil under the body, you can see a large stain: those are the liquids leaked out by the body, and this process occurs between 4 and 10 days in normal conditions; but also this process may be accelerated, especially by insects and carnivors. The disgusting smell released by the gases is etremely attractive to them, so at some point the amount of elements cleaning the body increase progressively. With that being said, yes: i would say that what we see is consistent with the body of someone who died 7-10 days before.
