Maldivian Model Hangs Herself
Fairly big news in European and Asian fashion circles this week as a 21 year old model who once appeared on the cover of Vogue, was quite famous for her striking blue eyes, and was studying to be a doctor was found hanging in her room. Several of her friends and her parents insisted that it couldn't be a suicide and was surely some sort of murder, but police and autopsy results both agreed that suicide by hanging asphyxiation was her cause of death. Of course, they had no reason or motive in their minds for someone to murder her, but this argument is made by family in a huge number of suicide cases I study. "She's not the sort of person who would kill herself!" Yeah. Right. Until she does.  Photos are fairly hard to find for this case, because she was moderately famous, but I have included what I was able to run down after a few days of searches. Her body has already been lowered and placed on the bed in the images, but she originally hung herself with a scarf from the ceiling fan, stepping off of a chair and then doing the airdance with a few pillows stacked underneath her feet. Not quite sure why she put the pillows underneath her as all she did was pee all over them when she died, but there they are.   ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  · |

The pillows are odd. Maybe wasn't meant to be sucide but autoerotique asphyxiation gone wrong? She expected to fall on the pillows? She knew she would pee and put the pillows underneath to catch it????? |

My guess is that she want the chair to fall on the pillows and sheets when kicked over, to avoid the large noise.

Rather a humble little room for a famous fashion model. You would think she would be snagged immediately by some wealthy guy, and would be found in more luxurious surroundings.
