Re: London Underground Suicide
This picture IS real, it was used in an inquest in 2008, the deceased was a foreign student. It has been used twice since in similar cases to show what sort of view the driver got prior to impact, CCTV doesn't show this too well. The train enters the station generally between 25 and 35 mph, although Brent Cross Southbound can be 40 mph. When people are struck by a train at these speeds it is generally the impact that kills, not the damage (resulting in the gore we're here for) it causes the internal organs to hit the body wall at such a rate they basically fail to operate, similar to the deceleration (sp?) when you are in a car accident at speed which causes the vehicle to stop very quickly. Incidentally, there are no trains in the UK which currently travel at the speeds mentioned, nor is there a tunnel near Gerrards Cross Station. Finally, Thames Valley Police have no records of four children being hit by a train at all. Oh, sorry, that wasn't finally, this is; The picture was taken by a train spotter, which is a hobby to raise more questions than any death on here! |
