Dinho Bonotti suffered a fatal accident on Thursday, 5 September 1963 during a practice session for the 6th edition of the 500 Km of Interlagos, a Formule Libre race scheduled on the following Saturday, 7 September 1963. He was at the wheel of a single-seater built by Luciano Bonini, fitted with a Chevrolet Corvette V8 engine. When focusing on beating the track record, Dinho Bonotti lost control of his car and crashed trying to correct the slide. The car entered the back of the boxes, hit several spectators, and flew off with the engine still running. Bonotti was thrown from the car and died almost instantly. The car crossed the whole area of the small paddock landing far away, near the Curva do Pinheirinho.

Nov. 25, 1990 Billy Vukovich III was killed at Mesa Marin Raceway 1/2-mile banked oval in Bakersfield, CA. Vukovich died of massive head injuries at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield. Some said the throttle stuck but the car owner said it checked out as normal later.

Some huge photo's of Riccardo Paletti's fatal crash at the Canadian GP 1982 which haven't been posted before.

This was Riccardo's first season in F1 driving for the Italian Osella team and Canada was his second start of the year. Pole sitter Didier Pironi stalled and Paletti, unsighted by the cars in front hit the rear of the stationary Ferrari at over 100 mph, suffering fatal chest injuries.

Two months after winning the 1946 Indianapolis 500 George Robson was killed, along with George Berringer on the 97th lap of a 100 mile AAA Championship race at Lakeside Speedway Atlanta. Billy DeVore was running slowly in the bottom lane for several laps, trying to make it to the finish. His car was orange, same as the swirling Georgia clay dust clouds on the 100+ degree day. Despite having passed him several times Robson took the low line down the back straight and ran into him, throwing his car into the path of Berringer.

Robson's car flipped end over end, throwing him onto the track where he was run over by two other cars. Berringers car ended up facing traffic where it was hit head on by a 4th car in the accident. The 4th driver was not injured. DeVore flipped over the inside berm and landed upside down in a ditch filled with water. Specatators rescued him, suffering a broken collarbone. The car Robson was killed in at Lakewood was the same one that Floyd Roberts piloted to victory at Indianapolis in 1938. Roberts would also lose his life in this same car in the 1939 Indy 500.
