Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
Robert Kubica's huge crash at the Canadian GP in 2007 in his Sauber. The only injury he suffered was light concussion and a sprained ankle, amazing when you see the amount of damage. Robert would go on to win the race a year later before suffering terrible injuries in a rally crash during 2011. He is still recovering and hoping to return to motorsport. |

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
I live in southeastern Pennsylvania, closest track is Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville. I saw Shane race there in May of 2010 during USAC'S Eastern Storm ,he flipped in the feature in turns three and four, trying to tear down the fence,he got out and kinda gave a smile and waved to the cheering crowd. So sad to hear about this when it happened ,but MAN does he have determination! Excellent videos! Thanks.

These photos are from the aftermath of Kubica's possibly career ending rally crash. The armco barrier entered the car when it had hit it at an angle and the barrier badly damaged his hand nearly taking it off comletely. Robert is hoping to return to F1, good luck to him.

Good day to all. I'd like to thank Alvin and windowlicker in particular and all the contributors for their fantastic posts in this thread. It is pure joy to immerse in the history of international motor racing. 47th 'Rally Città di Lucca' (July 22, 2012) - Valerio Catelani, 37, and Daniela Bertoneri, 34, died during the when their car, a Peugeot 207 s2000, crashed into a wall near the town of Brancoli and caught on fire. |

Old study I did back in the day on the location of Gordon Smiley amongst his wreckage Whenever I spotted Gordon in one of the pictures of his fatal crash I would enlarge that section as much as I could before pixelation would start taking over There is no key or hints, but if you watch the HQ video I just posted in slo-mo and watch where his body comes to a rest, it will give you all the help you need RIP Gordo |

These are the only photos of Ralph Hepburn's wreck that I've been able to find. He died in a practice crash at the Indy 500 in 1948 driving for the Tucker Corporation. Ralph began his racing car career in 1924 after many years of success on motorbikes, he went on to take part in fifteen Indy 500 races with best finish of second in 1937 and took pole in 1946. |

The technology exists which could have saved them - I can only hope that an investigation is done and the root cause of this fire is determined. If the regulations need to be tighted, they should be. I want to be clear - there is NO REASON that a modern racer must die in a petrol fire - NONE!! |

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
In a follow-up to the excellent original post of Nelson PQ's crash as Indy, is his rehab of the injuries to his feet and ankles. As is usual with Nelson, there is an amusing story. When "Mrs. Nelson Piquet" was paged at the hospital, three different women appeared each claiming to be his wife!
