Re: How You Feel About Now Sitting on a Leather Couch

I recently read a news story about a woman (age in her 20's?) who was developmentally disabled and her parents "cared for her" at home.
She spent her entire life on the same sofa in the living room. Apparently they never bothered keeping her clean in any way at all.
She finally ended up dying. I believe it was the funeral director who came to pick her up. It turns out she had melted into the part of the sofa where her torso laid. Right through the cushions and beyond. It was obvious she had been that way for awhile.
What was odd is the rest of the house was neat and clean.

I saved the article and will look for it. It does sound like a snopes thing though.

Unfortunately it's true, not a snopes.
I googled it and there are so many articles about it. For those interested, search "girl kept on couch".

This really hurt my heart. She was autistic. My son has autism. I can't imagine even leaving him sit by himself on the sofa for a half hour without checking on him or sitting with him. He's highly functional, but I'm always with him.

Re: How You Feel About Now Sitting on a Leather Couch

I had a cousin who drank himself to death -truthfully on purpose. Quit his job in February and hunkered down in a mobile home he inherited from his parents on the eastern shore, he’d already alienated the family. Didn’t turn on the AC when the weather began to warm up. A step brother from out of state stopped by the check on him in August. Mail was piled up under the mailbox( letter carrier lost her job)
Step-bro walked up to the living room windows and saw him slumped over on the sofa. Dead. The entire floor was covered with empty handles of Jim Beam. The place had to be burned, he was scooped up in buckets and cremated. They could only save a guitar that was in the back of the place and two pictures
I loved him very much-sometimes these pics hit hard. At least he stopped his suffering.
I'm so very sorry.

You're not alone. There are certain posts that cause triggers for me too.
Since there are thousands of members here, I'm guessing the same happens to more than a few of us.

Check out what the American military had to do when they were tasked to remove the bodies from Jonestown. If I was president, I would have napalmed the place and be done with it.

Put a sign free and put it out on curb in like either Chicago, NYC, LA or other nicely run cities it will disappear.
Put a "For Sale: $20" sign on it, someone is bound to steal it.

A little wet-to-dry dressing will fix this right up!
