I read he was attacked whilst sat praying or meditating. Dated all different times, Feb 2016 seemed earliest account but not 100%.

These monks raise tigers, pretty sure, saw a doc on it. Makes sense that it was a bite in a non typical kill spot. Wild tiger probably wouldn't have been so nice.....ouch
