Re: Hole Blasted into Mans Head with Shotgun
It looks normal enough to me. I have done enough with a twelve gauge that I'm not seeing anything odd here. The mark from the wadding seems consistent with a shot being fired from about 4 feet. Maybe even as close as three feet but the angle is not quite straight on. I would guess from a bit down and to his right? I want to say it was a twelve gauge since that is what I know but the wadding mark looks just a bit small. I did look close at the wound and I don't see the typical chewed edges you get from bird shot. Maybe buck shot was used. It's not neat enough for a slug. Sucks for that guy.

Re: Hole Blasted into Mans Head with Shotgun
back here, i fire from time to time in government firing range, trying all guns they have there. i never learned the other names you mentioned when it talks about shotgun shells. buck shot and bird shot. we refer to shells by gauges 00, 12, etc that basically refers to number of slugs inside the shell... which of them is the bird and the buck shot? 12 would have started scattering at 3ft while a 00 looks more like that entry wound. just a beginner's point of view though. im not a gun expert.
