Also, her wrists and ankles were tied and leverage may have been difficult, especially with three dudes deciding they didn't want her standing up.

See that chair up on the benches? That's where she started. The stretchy scarf got plenty tight enough to kill her before her feet touched the ground. This is the case in many non-full-suspension hangings.
