my guess is once the blade is in you cutting adrenaline kicks in.

think about it, in accidents you dont feel the pain of the knife or glass cutting deep into your flesh until after you start to watch it bleed. theres always that delay. freaky stuff

yeah thats true, I accidentally stabbed my finger hard with a metal letter opener the other day. I didn't even realize it till my dad pointed out that I was bleeding. then I looked at it and I was like "damn, that fucking hurt!"
