Jan 27 2011 Sharia law, in the version used by the Islamic Republic of Iran, provides for the death penalty for homicide, robbery, rape, blasphemy, apostasy, conspiracy against the government, adultery , prostitution, homosexuality, and also for drug-related offenses.
In addition, the Iranian Islamic law provides for lashes if sex before marriage, whith sticks in case of alcohol consumption and amputation of hands and feet for thieves.
According to this law the parents of the victim of a crime can seek compensation in money and pardon the offender or otherwise permit the execution of the sentence takes place. The "blood money" of a woman is half that of a man.
Requires that parents or children of a victim request the death penalty against the offender for it to be executed.
