Gunman Shot Dead by Police After Highway Shootout, Paso de Ovejas, 2018
On September 6, 2018, during the afternoon, officers from the Paso de Ovejas municipal police in Veracruz, Mexico noticed a motorcycle rider with a rifle reported as an R-15 near Finca Sayula and directed him to halt on federal highway 140. The rider fired at them, beginning a mobile shootout that concluded in the locality of Puente Jula. After getting onto a house roof, he was killed by patrol officers. A wounded officer was transported to hospital in Veracruz. El Dictamen reported that dozens of spent casings were gathered from the scene. Reporting referred to the dead man solely by a nickname.
