Girl Beheaded on Railway
According to very limited information (written in Hindi, which is quite difficult to be translated), this happened in July in Rajasthan, India. An 18-year-old female student placed her neck on the rail, and was guillotined by the train. Police said the reasons for suicide were not known yet. As what we have seen before, this way of suicide always ensures a clean cut. I am still trying to find more information on this case. Will be adding more if I get anything new.   |

I read somewhere once that the heat generated by the friction of the wheels on the rails can cauterize the wound hence the lack of spilled blood. I am unsure if that is true....

I think you are correct. I was told once by a railroad guy that the contact area on a railroad wheel is less than the size of a dime in total area. The rail is wide, and so is the wheel, but they are coned, so they only make contact at one point, and it's about as thick an area as a paperclip, straightened and layed out flat.

Look at her neck - it's practically gone. Actual point of contact of the wheel may be small, but its total width is still considerable, and that wheel smashed her neck  |
