Re: Female Suicide in Bed
All joking a side this is very sad and somewhat upseting to me. While many of you were wondering about the hows and whys of this ladies death I was wondering about the who. Who was the poor family member who found her? I had a brother in law who shot himself to death a few years back. The sick selfish bastard did it much like this at his home in bed. The bad part was he killed himself right before his daughters got off the bus from school. His daughters are the ones who found him and to this day all three are totally ficked up. I understand that there are situations in life where a person can find themselfs thinking that suicide is their only way out . The fact is in some cases such as terminal cancer they may even be right in their decisson in their case. However I think if a person is going to exercise their right to end their own life they also have a responsibillity to ensure that they are not somewhere in which their own children or direct family member will find them. The best example of how to do this correctly was done by one of our patients when I worked at the hospital. The man was in the end stages of cancer and was terminal. One week he arragned for his wife , children and grand kids to have a weekend away at the families cottage in northern Michigan. He told them it was his way of giving them a little break from the stress and hard work of being his care givers. He assured them that he would be ok at home for the week end and reminded them that he would be ok at home becuse he had visiting nursing care who came to the house daily to care for him. The family reluctently aggreed with the man and went off for their family weekend up north at the cottage. On the morning of the first day of the families weekend at the cottage the man got up called 911 calmly informed the 911 operator who he was , where he lived and asked that a ambulance be sent to his house . When asked by the 911 operator why he needed the ambulance he again calmly informed the operator that he was going to kill himself that morning. He then explained to the operator that the EMT's would find his body on the summer pourch and that the door would be unlocked when they got there. He was true to his word when Lansing Fire EMS got there he was in a chair on the summer pourch dead from a single gunshot wound. He got his resolution to his situation and at the same time protected his family from finding him. |

Re: Female Suicide in Bed
This is odd in the fact that most women will not kill themselves by shots to the head. It's almost like they don't want to disfigure themselves even in death.
