In the early hours of Saturday 18th October, a 40yo farmer was the victim of a robbery in rural Caruaru, Brazil. He was was at home sleeping with his wife when he heard voices posing as police officers demanding the door be opened. The farmer did not want to open up as he had been injured by a bullet in January. The intruders set fire to his motorcycle and broke down the door, taking the farmer's wife and her neighbour hostage.

The killers began to demand that the farmer deliver $10,000, he gave them only $900 and his wife had $95. The men shot the victim at point blank range then fled on their motorcycle.

Police are investigating whether the robbery was connected to the assassination attempt he survived earlier this year (reason not given).
