If you can smell exhaust, you are taking in carbon monoxide, no matter how much fresh air is blowing around. Your body prefers carbon monoxide 5 times more than it wants oxygen. If you smell exhaust fumes, you are taking in as much carbon monoxide as your body can harvest from the surrounding air.
The man who was the head of the U.S. Service Car club (They collect hearses, flower cars, ambulances, etc.) died from carbon monoxide poisoning working in his garage with the garage door wide open. (He was only 18, but had already written 3 books on service cars. His death was considered a big news item and a severe blow to the Service Car collectors group.

what do you mean poverty? they can afford a generator. in countries like ours (3rd world), a power generator is not something the poor would easily afford.

it is stupidity that killed them. a man with common sense, even at their first use of the generator engine would choke on the fumes at the first start and will know its not safe to inhale the fumes for long.

shame that the man would endanger his family with his ignorance

our generator have a muffler extension that goes two sizes big and two storeys up over the roof. plus the place where it is located also have a chimney with exhaust fans that starts whenever the generator runs.

and its not even a big generator machine.

The whole scene looks a bit off.The big blood puddle, the adult furthest (female?) is in a weird spot and kind of looks naked from waist down. And whats up with the adult closest? In a kneeling position on top of the child. Maybe they started to feel sick and attempted to get the kid out but didn't make it and just passed out...? sad tho
