Re: Embalming A Body

God I am glad I am not a mortician.
This is done by undertakers. Morticians deal with the autopsy (if one was needed). I used to be one, loved it

You have definitely seen more bodies than I could ever want to or could imagine to see

I understand what you are saying Sharon, i think it gets engrained into your DNA or something. Strange more people don't really seem to know the difference, to be honest, I didn't for a while at first. Didn't take long to catch on though.

Re: Embalming A Body

Possibly my next career.
One local funeral home in my town won't allow an open casket viewing w/o enbalming. The other not care.
I could see myself doing autopsies also but way more edu required so maybe in next life...One thing for sure will be something of this nature.

Well, knowing that you want to pursue this line of work, you can try to mentally prepare yourself for the things you will see, but it doesn't work. You might think you have prepared yourself for the visuals that you will undoubtedly see, but they will still take a tole on you.

On the other hand, this line of work doesn't show any signs of going away, as long as we humans continue with our current way of thinking, funeral directors will be around as long as we are.

Re: Embalming A Body

It actually came to mind what the "smell" would be like...
