Re: Elderly Woman Mauled to Death by 3 Rottweilers
there are dog breeds that require special attention to keep peaceful and obedient. I dont think i have that much of quality yet. i will just have to stay with breeds that i can raise well and obedient.

Re: Elderly Woman Mauled to Death by 3 Rottweilers
My next door neighbor was a canine officer in the police department, after having also been a dog man in the military, and they had Belgian Malinois (Or whatever that breed is) here in Tucson amoung the dogs in the police force. He didn't like them and said they were prone to just go nuts. They had one at the site of a burglary in Tucson, and the dog actually ran PAST the burglar they had cornered, and bit another officer at the other end of the alley. He liked German Shepherds a lot better, considering them much smarter and easier to train, and more reliable. |

Re: Elderly Woman Mauled to Death by 3 Rottweilers
Even here in the Philippines, They are now in the process of removing belgian malinois and german shepherds in K9 units that roams highly congested public places. We had cases where these dogs just snapped people without any noticeable provocation (or maybe they just did not notice that it was provoked). But still the fact is that those dogs killed a kid and an aged man. both went for the jugular veins or throats and didnt let go until it was too late. These were supposedly trained by american and british k9 trainers in alternate succession. they re train them every year. so id say there are some breeds that have a little tendency to go amok no matter how good the training is. Our company is now in the process of training retrievers, jack russell, and other breeds to use for sniffing bomb detection and drugs. I sold 2 working line golden retrievers for the drug enforcement ageny a couple of months back when they saw me playing with them in a park using sticks and ball.
