You're right... he was rolled slightly to the left, and his right arm was pulled from where it had rested across his chest. The pulling of the arm probably resulted in the tearing of the very fragile skin tissue, makeing the appearance of a wound. The best guess for COD would be an injury to the neck/base of skull, as the disarticulation of the head is not explained by decomposition alone.
