This set of pics has reaaally got me into knowing the backstory....so here's what I have found from another site.

Translated from a German newspaper:

"He really staged a lot, by sitting the the dead woman without head on the bed. Things like this don't happen spontaneous. The staging surely was for posterity." Maybe the 32 years old man hoped for a relationship with the victim: "Apparently the woman did't wanted to, and maybe therefore he freaked out. That could have been a trigger for this gruesome act. At least it looks like a relationship motivated act." That Schoormann took the head of his victim isn't uncommon for Eibach: "It's like a souvenir for him. There are definitely people who kill and take something from the corpse." For sure Schoormann had a highly aggressive and in addition a satanic side. "Such people can live for years undiscovered, a completely inconspicious life."
In the night of the murder Schoormann took some furniture out of his apartment as well.

An emergency doctor of Leer:

"At first we thought there's a puppet sitting on the bed."
The physician was also called to the car accident of the suspect. There he saw the face of the victim, as policemen opened the backpack of the murderer. He said he really saw a lot in his 25 years as emergency doctor. "But that on Wednesday : For God's sake : that was a catastrophe", he says. Even Hours later his voice is shivering. "That was a abominable thing, I didn't saw something like that in war."
The physician together with some firemen was one of the first people on the crime scene in the old town. The situation that they faced was spooky: Thick smoke everywere, and on the bed a woman was sitting, her back lend on the wall. She was naked and her head was missing. She was completely bloodless and her skin was like wax. "We all thought it was a puppet." Slowly the men realized: this is really a person, a woman. He didn't had time to look around in the apartment, because the next emergency call came in: car accident in Brinkum. "I knew that I couldn't help here, so I drove to the accident." But even there I couln't help anymore. The man, who crashed frontal into a truck, was allready dead. But something was suspicious to him and so he asked the policemen to look into the car again. I the backpack on the front passengers seat they found the head of a woman. This was even for the hardened physician a shock, cause he knew the the face. And with this blow he realized who he had found headless in the apartment: The 27 years old woman had years ago made a education as a physician assistant in the hospital of Leer. "Just before five weeks I met her while shopping", he remembers and nearly can't believe it. "She was such a likeable person, quite sane. But she had strange friends all the time."
