Christian in Wheelchair Killed by Muslims in France While Livestreaming

On 10 September 2025, Ashur Sarnaya, a 45-year-old disabled Assyrian Christian from Iraq, was stabbed to death in Lyon, France, by 3 algerian muslims while doing a livestream on TikTok about Christianity.

The disabled wheelchair-bound man and his family were chased out of Iraq in 2014 by ISIS and came to Europe for a fresh start, far away from violent Islamists.

Ashur Sarnaya used to record Christian videos on TikTok and had a large following there. He was hated by Islamists for criticising them.

According to a witness, a man was waiting for Sarnaya, who was in a wheelchair, at the bottom of his building before stabbing him in the carotid artery and fleeing. Sarnaya was livestreaming on TikTok at the time of the attack, and captured footage showed his face covered in blood coming from his nose and mouth.

The Quran on Wars And Aggression

[Qur’an 47:4] If you encounter (in war) those who disbelieve, you may strike the necks. If you take them as captives you may set them free or ransom them, until the war ends.

Had God willed, He could have granted you victory, without war. But He thus tests you by one another.

As for those who get killed in the cause of God, He will never put their sacrifice to waste.

The common misconceptions about the Islamic and Quranic perspectives on war and peace are fueled by some people who quote parts of a few Quranic verses out of context.

It is unfortunate that rational open-minded people accept these misquotations without examining the context of the passage they are written in.

As with most other books, the Quran must be read as a whole. Taking a single verse - or a part of a verse -out of context can naturally lead to incorrect conclusions. No religion of God is evil, rather the people who abuse the religion are.

Aggression is Forbidden. Fighting is permitted only in self-defence.

The Quranic verses on this are very clear. God repeats, "do not aggress", multiple times. Only if attacked, is one permitted to fight back. If the other party refrains from aggression and offers one peace, we are told to stop fighting.

Rules of War:

[Qur’an 2:190–93] You may fight in the cause of GOD against those who attack you, but do not aggress. GOD does not love the aggressors. You may kill those who wage war against you, and you may evict them whence they evicted you.

Oppression is worse than murder. Do not fight them at the Sacred Masjid, unless they attack you therein. If they attack you, you may kill them. This is the just retribution for those disbelievers.

If they refrain, then GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful. You may also fight them to eliminate oppression, and to worship GOD freely. If they refrain, you shall not aggress; aggression is permitted only against the aggressors.

All fighting is regulated by the basic rule in Qur’an 60:8-9. Fighting is allowed strictly in self-defence, while aggression and oppression are strongly condemned throughout the Quran.

The religion of Submission to God (Islam) as described in the Quran is a peaceful and tolerant one. The only situations where fighting is allowed is in self-defence. Aggression is always prohibited.

Of the 6,346 verses in the Quran, a very small percentage mentioned, "war". Islam being a practical religion does cover the legitimacy of fighting as well as when it is unjustified.

The believers in the time of Muhammad had to face hostile opposition because of their religious views and were in many cases forced to fight to save their lives.

However, the bulk of the Quran, as the religion of Islam in general, focuses on worshipping God, leading a righteous life and attaining salvation in the Hereafter.

Muslims who follow the Quran strictly without relying on Hadith are known as Quranists or Ahlul Quran. Unlike Sunni or Shia Muslims, who generally accept the Quran and the traditions of the Prophet Muhammad (Hadith) as authoritative sources of guidance, Quranists believe the Quran is self-sufficient and the sole foundation for Islamic understanding and practice.

Quranists reject the authority and use of Hadith (sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad), viewing them as potentially fabricated or unneeded for practicing Islam.

Also fundamentalist militant Islamists and Islamic extremists, who are a minority, follow their own interpretation of the Quran. 80 to 90 % of their victims are in fact muslims.

They get their followers by putting Quran quotes out of context and put them on social media and rely on the uneducated to fall for it.

Justifications given for attacks on civilians by Islamic extremist groups come from their interpretations of the Quran, the hadith, and Sharia.

These killings include retribution by armed jihad for the perceived injustices of unbelievers against Muslims, the belief that many self-proclaimed Muslims have violated Islamic law and are disbelievers.

It only takes one idiot to commit a hate crime and we can't blame a hole group for supporting it imo.

Maybe they were Isis affiliates? No one has been arrested yet.
