Re: Buried Alive In Tar/Asphalt
well that depends on your definition of hot. the boiling point of tar is 100F to 380F depending on mixture. when it dries, it looks nothing like the pictures. could it have been warm from the heat of the day, yea. i think it was the sheer weight of the tar that killed him. |

Re: Buried Alive In Tar/Asphalt
just so you guys know that would burn like hell most likely as when asphalt is placed down its hot so it easier to move into location before it cools and hardens

Re: Buried Alive In Tar/Asphalt
Wow this hits home way to close. I pave roads for a living, and have done so for almost 20 years. Have heard about a 20 yr. old guy gettn burried in hot asphalt 10 yrs. ago, same outcome. Most tragedies come from being struck from passing traffic, gettn run over by the trucks like this 1,and the worst i saved for last, gettn run over by a 15 ton roller. I will remember this post while at work for the next little bit, and remind everybody to make sure safety is number 1.

Re: Buried Alive In Tar/Asphalt
I am in the old car hobby, and I read a news clipping of 5 people in an open touring car that ran into a hot ladle rail car, filled with molten metal, and it tipped over on them and incinerated them. This was in either Chicago or Gary Indiana, in about 1922 or so. I wish I knew more details and could find the clipping.
