Buckshot and the Fat Man
There are nine 00 buckshot in a 12 gage load. It looks like all nine of them found their mark in the fat man, but he's no longer counting. You know when they bring out the fancy little measuring angle thing, you're done.

From the looks, id say the shooter was on the ground and shot upwards defending himself from the charging hippo

It was fairly close range whoever shot him. You can see where the plastic wad behind the lead balls came out and hit him as well. No fun in any respect.
