Brazil - Teenage Girl Stabbed to Death by Her Older Ex-boyfriend
On the afternoon of 14th January 2020 in the Morada do Sol neighbourhood (Brazil), 14 year old M.B.B. was murdered. Her ex-boyfriend, 22 year old J.R.S.D.S., is being bought by the police. According to the girl's parents, 'J' had started an argument with 'M' in her bedroom as he would not accept the end of their relationship. 'M's parents had tried to intervene but the door to the bedroom was locked. 'J' then took a knife + stabbed 'M' twice (some sites say both in the neck, others say 1 in the neck + 1 in the back). The girl got out of the room but collapsed in another room + died. 'M', who had started dating 'J' last August, was buried the next morning.

While you are correct, based on hindsight, that in this particular case the man concerned was not fit to date this girl (or any girl for that matter given his idea of possession as a right) in general such decisions need to be made on the basis of the maturity and character of the specific persons concerned, not on the basis of generalizations based on age.
