The last pic is a girl from Afghanistan who was badly burned in a fire. She recieved no medical treatment since none was readily available. Since scar tissue will form wherever it can, it bridged across from her chin to her chest. Scar tissue also shrinks as it ages, which pulled her chin down like you see in the pic. I believe it was a group of soldiers that saw her and reported what they found, and the higher-ups made some phone calls and got the ball rolling. Her parents finally got her over here to the States, where she was treated free of charge. There was a pretty cool show on the discovery channel a couple years back that showed most of what she went through. |
