Autoerotic Death by Refrigerant Gas
The deceased was a 25-year-old male employed as a heating/ventilation mechanic. He had failed to report for work, and the police were requested to check on his welfare. Police officers forced entry into the residence and discovered the man lying facedown on his bed wearing his underwear in a bound position. He had bound himself, securing his legs, hips, and arms. The man was wearing a gas mask, which was attached to some tubing through which he was inhaling refrigerant gas from a canister below the bed. The gas was chlorodifluoromethane (Freon 22), a colorless, near-odorless, nonflammable gas used in refrigeration. Inside the apartment, the police discovered numerous sexual devices and toys as well as a blow-up doll and “heavy leather” accessories. There was a video playing depicting a girl involved in sexual bondage. On the hot tub were numerous dildos and other sexual paraphernalia. The deceased had recently purchased hundreds of dollars worth of sexual devices online. He did not have a girlfriend and was basically a loner who spent a lot of time by himself at home. This photo shows the victim lying facedown on his bed. He was wearing a gas mask, his arms were secured to his sides, and his hand was on the gas gauge of the refrigerant canister.  Paraphernalia. In the apartment, police discovered numerous sexual devices and toys as well as a blow-up doll and “heavy leather” accessories.  The man’s hand on the gas gauge to control the flow of chlorodifluoromethane (Freon 22) going into his mask.  The gas canister of refrigerant gas that the deceased was using to get “high” during his autoerotic event. As for autoerotic deaths by chemical substances, in most cases the autoerotic practitioner used gases, such as nitrous oxide, propane, butane, ether, and aerosol glue, that caused suffocation by chemical asphyxia. |

How did he die? Suffocated with gas? Why didn't he suffocated before, was that his 1st attempt? Was that dangerous?

You have to be aware enough to turn off your gas. All it would take is the slightest differences in the conditions, and he'd just drop away and die. It's not as if any of these dudes come up with timer solutions, or innovate new valving in their masks to split the gas with oxygen. A lot of gases are heavier than air too, so even if he survived his whole canister, he could have died just from not being able to get up to clear his lungs well enough to get proper oxygen in. Lack of oxygen killed him, probably not the actual gas. I know nothing of Freon though, but most inhalants are the same. He wasn't poisoned, rather he was probably starved of oxygen. But most importantly, although it looks quite hellish in there (apart from his linens), I can tell you for a certainty that his death would have been like being launched out of the testacles of a Rainbow, through a cinching neon portal into all of the sexual orifices of a Siamese Unicorn that you could imagine at the same time! Heaven dude...Heaven. I only hope he was listening to Ween. |
