There are two trends, one is a normal coping mechanism, that being to use impersonal humor, and the other is indeed nasty, which is to attack the victims in a non-humorous fashion (unless they were not truly victims, such as a terrorist or criminal killed in a chase etc, in which case respect for the dead seems a bit innapropriate)

Distinguishing between the two is something many on either side never figure out how to do...maybe you should look deeper before making blanket statements?

Also, most of us don't like to see abused or dead animals. I believe that stems from their innocence and lack of understanding, similar to how we view children on here.
