Angry and Armed with a Knife
A few classic stabbing photos. Knife wounds tend to feed enragement, most victims of stabbing shows signs of overkill. Some female victims of rape show signs of "piquerism," where the suspect uses a knife to mutilate the body (especially breasts and genitalia) after death. Leaving the knife in the body is usually a way of degrading the victim, a trophy of sorts that show the suspect's morbid "victory." I imagine the same way Conquistadors placed a flag on the shores of a new found land, leaving it there as a symbol of their conquest.
