Activist Executed in Brazil

This 53 year old woman was a relatively famous activist, labor leader, and politician in her area of Brazil. She served as mayor for some time and fought long and publicly against corporate and governmental land grabs taking advantage of disenfranchised farmers and rural workers. Over the past few weeks, she had lodged 20 separate complaints with the police and government in her state about death threats due to her advocacy.

All were ignored or, if investigated, yielded no immediate result and were shelved.

This week, a group of 5 masked, armed men arrived at her home while she was eating dinner and took her away by force in an unmarked van. She was discovered on a nearby country road the next morning in her underpants, having been tortured and shot twelve times in various parts of her body.

would've been nice to have her name included in the post V-Man. presumably she did some good work, naming her would've honored her memory (insofar as one's memory can be honored through posting these kinds of pictures

Site rules generally dictate that we do not include names or specific locations with these types of images. 'Celebrities' can be an exception; I may add her name in here if I decide that she's famous enough to warrant it. I'll think on it.
